Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
This policy explains what information the Stone Paper Scissors (Rock Paper Scissors) game at www.stone-paper-scissors.com, and its Microsoft Store app, collects and how it is used. The app is a free game. You can play the computer without creating an account.
Information we collect
If you create an account:
- Your email address and the username you choose.
- Your password, which is stored only as a scrambled (salted and hashed) value. We cannot read it.
- If you use Sign in with Google: your Google email address and profile picture URL, as provided by Google. We never see your Google password.
- An optional profile picture, if you upload one.
- Your game scores (wins, losses and ties), your friends list and friend requests, and the moves you play against the computer (used so the computer can learn your style on harder levels).
- The time you created your account and last logged in.
When you play online: your username, your moves, and chat messages you send are passed to the other player in your room. Chat messages are delivered live and are not stored by us.
If you use voice with the AI coach: when you tap the microphone or Live talk, your browser's built-in speech recognition turns your speech into text. Depending on your browser, the audio may be processed by the browser maker (for example Google in Chrome or Apple in Safari), not by us. We never receive or store audio. Only the resulting text is sent to our server, to the AI provider that writes the coach's reply, and, like typed messages, it is not stored by us. Replies are read aloud by your device's own text-to-speech.
If you do not create an account: we do not collect your name or email. Your computer-game score is saved only on your own device.
On your device: the game saves your login token, difficulty setting and scores in your browser's local storage so they are remembered next time.
How we use it
- To run your account, log you in, and show your scores and the public leaderboard.
- To let you play and chat with other players and add friends.
- To email you one-time codes for registration and password resets. We do not send marketing email.
- To keep the game working and prevent abuse.
What other people can see
Your username, profile picture and scores are shown on the public leaderboard. Other players you play with can see your username and chat messages. Your email address is never shown to other players.
Services we use
- Cloudflare hosts our game server and stores account data.
- GitHub Pages hosts the website files.
- Resend delivers the verification and password-reset emails.
- Google provides Sign in with Google and Google AdSense advertising.
- Advertising networks, including Google AdSense, show ads in the game. They may use cookies or similar technology to show and measure ads. You can learn more and manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
We do not sell your personal information.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account information until you delete your account. You can delete your account at any time in the game: open your profile and choose Delete account. This removes your account, username, email, scores and profile picture from our server. You can also remove your profile picture or reset your scores from the same screen.
Security
Passwords are hashed, connections use HTTPS, and login attempts are rate-limited. No system is perfectly secure, so please choose a strong, unique password.
Children
This game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
